Spirit Bears In The City
"From time to time a charitable project will come along that touches the heart and soul, and reminds us of the more important things in life. Recently, a project came along that was an honor to be a part of; that project was the “Spirit Bears In The City”, through the BC Lions Society for Children with Disabilities.

The Great Spirit Bear Auction & Gala was held November 8th, 2006 at the Victoria Conference Centre.

"I was very honored to be a part of such a beautiful project, and very pleased when 'Mustimuhw' sold with the highest bid for the Vancouver Island Spirit Bears; with a winning bid of $20,500.00. The proceeds raised from the auction will benefit the BC Lions Society's Easter Seal Services on Vancouver Island". Artist Joe Jack.

“In Coast Salish Culture, when an animal is born, and it looks different from the rest of its kind, or it acts in a peculiar way, it is said that it is the spirit of an Ancestor within that animal, and that Ancestor has come to bring you a message or to visit with you. Within the back of this Spirit Bear is the spiritual image of the Ancestor”.
